Action in the KJHL began Tuesday night, as the North Winnipeg Satelites hosted the St. Malo Warriors.  St. Malo scored the only goal of the first period, holding a 1-0 advantage.  They added to their lead, just 25 seconds into the 2nd, and were up 2-0.  The Satelites kept coming however, and scored twice to tie, but with just 3:35 remaining in the period, the Warriors netted a power play goal, and were ahead 3-2.  The 3rd period saw the Warriors add an insurance marker, and hold on to win 4-2 in a tight game.

Riley Hunter scored a hat trick for the Warriors & Jared Magne was in on all 4 goals with assists.  Dustin Wiebe chipped in with 2 helpers as well.  Jordan Taylor made 32 saves on the 34 shots he faced to earn the victory.
Scott Douglas & Parker Cassie both scored single goals for the Satelites.  Derick Vinsky stopped 40 of the 44 shots he faced in the game.

Wednesday night had 2 games on the schedule.  In one, the Peguis Juniors paid a visit to the Arborg Ice Dawgs.  The Ice Dawgs took the early lead in the game, only to the have the Juniors tie it back up, as the first neared the midway point.  Arborg scored in the final minutes, and took a 2-1 lead to the dressing room.  The second was all Peguis, as they scored 3 times, including a power play marker, to jump out to a 4-2 lead.  The 3rd period saw the Juniors add to their lead, tallying 2 more goals, including another power play goal, and were up 6-2.  Arborg cut the lead in the half, scoring a power play goal of their own, but that was as close as they would get, and the Juniors capped the game off with a 6-3 road win.

Both Harold Linklater & Theoren Spence scored a goal and added 2 assists to lead Peguis.  Romano Paul scored twice, while Jesse Flett & Keeven Daniels-Webb added 2 assists.  Keifer Tacan stopped all but 3 of the 32 shots he faced to get the win.
Cory Kuldys led the Dawgs with 2 assists.  Carter Comeau, Clint Torfason & Travis Kilbrei all scored single goals.  Jon Narverud made 46 saves in the game.

In other action Wednesday, the Norway House North Stars made their way to OCN to play the Storm.  OCN opened the scoring in the first, on the power play.  They chipped in another goal before the first was done & held a 2-0 lead.  The second saw the Storm pour the offence on, finding the back of the net 5 times, including a shorthanded goal.  The Storm were up 7-0 after two and the game was well in hand.  The 3rd period saw OCN score 4 more times over the first 10 minutes, including a power play goal.  Norway House broke the shutout bid with a goal on the power play, but that was all they could muster, and OCN took the game 11-1.

Lodie Ipeelie paced the Storm with 2 goals and 2 assists.  Brody Personius added 2 goals and an assist.  Justice Genaille, Nathan Gardner, Bryson Constant, Edward Lachose, Matthew Gardner, Mitchell Tilley, Aavory Wilkie, Tyrel Buechert & Darian Young all recorded 2 points in the game.  Anthony Fontaine earned the win, stopping 25 of the 26 shots thrown his way.

With no games scheduled for Thursday, the next KJHL action took place Friday night, with six teams playing.  Fisher River headed to Lundar as the Hawks played the Falcons.  Fisher River opened the scoring in the first, but then gave up a power play and shorthanded goal to Lundar, who took a 2-1 lead to the dressing room.  The second period saw the Falcons add to their lead, scoring 3 times over the 20 minutes, including another power play goal.  The Hawks got one back, but Lundar led 5-2 after 40.  In the 3rd, Lundar tacked on another goal, and were up 6-2.  The Hawks got some life late in the period, scoring twice and cutting the lead to 6-4, but with the Fisher River net empty, the Falcons iced the game scoring one more time, and taking a 7-4 win.

In other action, the top two teams in the South Division met up in St. Malo, as the Warriors hosted the Selkirk Fishermen.  St. Malo scored the only goal of the first period and held a 1-0 lead.  The teams played the second period scoreless & the Warriors took their 1-0 lead into the 3rd.  Selkirk scored, on the power play, just 1:08 into the 3rd to tie the game at 1 apiece.  St. Malo answered right back however to reclaim their lead, making the score 2-1.  The Fish power play was clicking in this one though, as they added 2 more power play goals over the period, and then added an insurance marker into an empty Warriors’ goal to come from behind and win 4-2.

Jeremy Pachkowsky led the Fishermen with 2 goals and an assist.  Karl Fey added a goal and an assist & Scott Thomas chipped in with 2 helpers.  Jordan Liske turned aside 31 of the 33 shots he faced in the game to earn the win.

The final game on the Friday docket pitted the North Winnipeg Satelites on the road in Arborg to play the Ice Dawgs.  Arborg opened the scoring in the first, but couldn’t hold the lead long as the Satelites replied back shortly after.  The second period saw the same thing, as the Ice Dawgs took a 2-1 lead, only to have the Satelites reply to tie the game.  This time, the Ice Dawgs scored another goal in the period, and held a 3-2 lead after 40 minutes.  The 3rd period was close checking, but the Ice Dawgs added an insurance goal with just over 4 minutes to go, and held on for the 4-2 win.

Clint Torfason scored 2 goals, and Connor Jonasson added 2 assists for the Arborg Ice Dawgs.  Nico Morrow-Litke & Spencer Kilbrei rounded out the Dawgs’ scoring.  Jon Narverud made 45 saves on 47 shots to earn the victory.
Glen Paupanekis scored a goal & added an assist to lead the Satelites.  Colin Yarchuk added a single goal of his own.  Marc Hildebrand made 41 saves on 45 shots in the game.

Saturday was relatively quiet in the league, as there was only one game - the second game of the home and home matchup between the OCN Storm and the Norway House North Stars.  The first period went back and forth, as OCN opened the scoring, and subsequently added 2 more goals in the period, but Norway House added 2 of their own, and the Storm held a thin 3-2 lead.  The North Stars tied the game early in the 2nd, just before the Storm tallied 3 times over a 3 minute span.  Norway House kept coming hard however, scoring twice in two minutes, including a shorthanded goal.  After 40 minutes, the Storm held a 6-5 lead.  Norway House simply ran out of gas in the 3rd, and couldn’t match the Storm.  OCN scored early in the period on the power play, then added 7 more goals, and simply overpowered the North Stars 14-5.

Lodie Ipeelie had another big game for the Storm, recording a hat trick and 2 assists.  Mitchell Tilley scored a goal of his own & added 4 assists, while Matthew Gardner dished out 5 assists.  Aavory Wilkie potted his own hat trick and an assist, and Wendell Easter added a goal and 3 assists.  Justice Genaille, Drake Lathlin & Tyrel Buechert all recorded 3 points.  Nathan Gardner, Edward Lachose, Brody Personius and Darian Young got 2 points.  Anthony Fontaine earned his second straight win, stopping 29 of the 34 shots he faced.
Gregory Paupanekis tallied 2 goals and added an assist for the North Stars.  Carson Mowatt scored once and added 2 assists, while Conley Spence recorded 2 points (1G, 1A).  Jarred Gore made 45 saves.

Sunday saw the league return to a more normal slate of weekend games as 6 teams hit the ice.  OCN continued their road trip, heading to Cross Lake.  The Storm started quickly out of the gate, taking a 1-0 lead.  Cross Lake replied to tie the game back up, but OCN added both a power play goal & a shorthanded goal to hold a 3-1 first period lead.  The second saw the Storm score the only goal, as they took a 4-1 advantage to the final frame.  In the final 20 minutes, the Storm tacked on 4 more goals, including another shorthanded goal and a power play goal and were up 8-1 before the mid-point of the period.  Cross Lake answered with one goal back, a shorthanded goal, but OCN handed the Islanders and 8-2 home loss.

OCN was led by Lodie Ipeelie, who scored once and added 3 assists (for 6 goals and 7 assists over the week).  Mitchell Tilley tallied 2 goals & both Brody Personius & Drake Lathlin added a goal and an assist.  Luke Penner capped the week off with the Storm’s 3rd win, turning away 45 of the 47 pucks he saw.
Braeden Boschman & Austin Ross both scored single goals for the Islanders.  Tory Monias started the game, allowing 7 goals on 47 shots.  He was replaced by Brendan McLeod in the 3rd, and he made 13 saves.

St. Malo headed north for a matinee with the Fisher River Hawks.  With an early power play goal, the Warriors took the lead in the game.  The Hawks answered back however to tie.  St. Malo reclaimed the lead only 2 minutes later.  But Fisher River tallied 2 power play goals before the period was over and had taken the lead 3-2.  St. Malo scored the only goal of the 2nd period, another power play goal and the game was tied heading to the 3rd.  In the 3rd period, the Warriors added 2 power play goals in the first 5 minutes and held a 5-3 lead.  Fisher River scored a shorthanded goal to the cut the lead to one, but the Warriors found the mark again to get a 2 goal cushion.  With just 19 seconds to go, the Hawks scored to draw to within one, but they simply could find the equalizer.

Jessi Freund scored twice & added 2 assist to lead the Warriors.  Jared Magne added a goal of his own & an assist to finish with 2 points.  Brett Keith chipped in with 2 helpers.  Noah Fournier made 36 saves on 41 shots to earn the win for St. Malo.
Tyler Kemball scored twice & tacked on a helper to lead the Hawks with 3 points.  Wyatt McCorrister added a goal and an assist & Josh Bealieu dished out 2 apples.  Jarret Hogue faced 62 shots in the game, stopping 56 of them.

In the final game of the weekend, the North Winnipeg Satelites headed to Steeltown to play the Selkirk Fishermen.  Selkirk scored the opening goal, and the only one of the first, on the power play.  They added a second goal to their lead early in the 2nd, and held that until North Winnipeg cut the lead in half, on the power play, at the midway point.  The Fish made the score 3-1 late in the second, while killing a penalty of their own and they took that lead to the 3rd period.  Neither team found the mark in the 3rd, and the Fish held on to the 3-1 win.

Scott Thomas led the Fishermen with 2 assists.  Tyndall Fontaine, Dylan Painchaud-Niemi & Milan Horanski all scored single goals.  Riley Bannerman stopped all but one of the 27 shots he faced, to get the Fish win.
Jesse McIntosh scored the only goal for the Satelites.  Marc Hildebrand made 41 saves on 44 shots in the game.

The final week of play in November gets going on Tuesday with 2 games on the schedule.  In one, the Lundar Falcons visit the North Winnipeg Satelites.  The other game sees a rematch of the 2015 KJHL final as the Selkirk Fishermen play host to the Peguis Juniors.  Wednesday evening sees the Cross Lake Islanders travel to OCN to lock horns with the Storm.  Fridaynight has 4 teams in action, with the Arborg Ice Dawgs playing in Lundar and the St. Malo Warriors playing host to the Peguis Juniors.  Saturday is a little busier with 3 games scheduled.  OCN makes a stop in Peguis as the top two North Division teams meet up.  Lundar plays host to North Winnipeg and Fisher River heads north for a weekend set, opening in Norway House.  Grey Cup Sunday sees the only game scheduled as the Hawks complete their road trip, stopping in Cross Lake.
