Already playing his third season with the Fishermen (3-0-0-0), 18-year old Selkirk native Milan Horanski is off to a hot start (6 goals, 1 assist). He leads 11 skaters who have already scored a goal for Selkirk. Coming up short in last seasons playoff, the 2014 and 2015 league champions look to be a strong contender to return to the Keystone Cup.
North Winnipeg Satelites (2-0-0-0) struggled last season earning just 23 points in the standings, last in the KJHL South. Opening their season with three-straight home games has proved positive for the Chris Pache-led group, who surprised St. Malo in overtime 6-5 on opening night. With 11 rookies listed on their roster the Satelites could be a team to watch.
Finishing nine points behind Selkirk last season, the St. Malo Warriors (2-0-0-1) hope to contend for a league title again this season. The Warriors last won a KJHL championship in 2009. A veteran-heavy lineup (including Riley Hunter, Dustin Wiebe and Jared Magne) could see St. Malo in the mix come playoff time.
