The second week of KJHL action began Tuesday night with the North Winnipeg Satelites playing host to the St. Malo Warriors.
North Winnipeg 5 - St. Malo 4 (OT)
Jordan Turney led the Satelites with 2 goals in the game. Nico Lisi scored 3:22 in to overtime to earn the extra point for the Satelites. Wyatt Emes faced 40 shots in the game, stopping 36 to earn the win.
Dustin Wiebe & Robert Guimond both scored a goal and added an assist to lead the Warriors attack. David Allaire stopped 36 of the 41 shots he faced in the St. Malo goal.
KJHL action continued Thursday evening as the OCN Storm played host to the Norway House North Stars.
OCN 16 - Norway House 3
OCN was led by Harold Linklater who scored 3 times and added 4 assists. Tony Apetagon, Devon Tobacco & Bryson Webicki-Mallet all recorded 4 points. Austin Caza & Mikey Markus had 3 points a piece & Brandon Sinclair-Martin, Drake Lathlin, Jared Tobacco & Austin Wilkie all finished with 2 points. Anthony Fontaine made 24 saves to earn the win.
Harley Muminawatum scored 2 goals to lead the North Stars, while Hunter York added 2 assists. Joel Monias faced 60 shots in the game, stopping 44 of them.
Friday evening had just one game scheduled, as the St. Malo Warriors played host to the Arborg Ice Dawgs.
St. Malo 4 - Arborg 2
The Warriors were led by Jonathan Kostek & Jared Magne, who both scored a goal and added 2 assists. Riley Hunter chipped in with a goal and an assist as well. Noah Fournier was solid in goal, stopping 31 of the 33 shots he saw for the win.
Arborg got single goals from Braydon Chwatacki & Colton Davies. Jordan Liske stopped 37 of the 41 shots he saw in the game.
Saturday evening's schedule was busy, with 3 games on the go.Arborg 7 - Peguis 1
Clint Torfason scored twice for the Ice Dawgs, while Cal Finnson, Derric Gulay & Neal Sigvaldason all scored once and added an assist. Jordan Liske made 23 saves on 24 to earn the win for the Ice Dawgs.
Peguis' lone goal was scored by Sam Spence. Luke Penner faced 57 shots in the game, stopping 50 of them.
Selkirk 11 - Fisher River 2
The Fish were led by Milan Horanski who scored 4 times. Drayton Mendrun added 3 assists. Auzzie Loewen & Sean Loutit both scored 2 goals & Harley Hoydalo & Connor Cyr each added 2 points. Riley Bannerman faced just 18 shots, stopping 16 of them to earn the win.
Fisher River got single goals from Dylan Bird-Wilson & Brennan Cochrane. Nolan Favell faced 51 shots in the game, making 40 saves.
North Winnipeg 3 - Cross Lake 2
The Satelites got goals from Jordan Turney (with the eventual GWG), Nathan Jones & Sam Batt. Wyatt Emes earned the victory, making 24 saves on 26 shots.
Cross Lake's Tanner Poker & Tyler Monias each scored single goals. Tory Monias faced 32 shots in the game, making 29 saves.
Sunday's action saw the Cross Lake Islanders make a stop in Fisher River to complete their road trip and the Lundar Falcons host the St. Malo Warriors in their home opener.
St. Malo 9 – Lundar 6
The Warriors were led by Jared Hunter with 2 goals and an assist, and Jonathan Kostek, Jared Magne, Riley Hunter & Dustin Wiebe who all scored once and added 2 assists. Elmar Tabler & Brandon Stratton both scored single goals and chipped in with assists. Alex Bueckert stopped 29 of the 35 shots he faced to earn the win.
Lundar’s Maurice Hince netted 2 goals and 2 assists, while Craig Wiess, Zack Huckerby & Dennon Sichewski all finished with 2 points. Jarrett Hogue started the game, stopping 24 shots. Rylan Magnusson replaced him late in the 2nd period, and he stopped 15 of the 17 shots he faced.
Peguis 6 - Cross Lake 5
Keesin Richard & Sam Spence led the Juniors with 2 goals. Waylon Neault, Devon Garson & Tristan Starr all finished with 2 points. Luke Penner made 43 saves on 48 shots to earn the win.
Tyler Monias & Tanner Poker each scored 1 goal and 1 assist. Kris Wood-Ross stopped 37 shots in the Islander goal.
Upcoming KJHL action sees the Selkirk Fishermen play the North Winnipeg Satelites on Tuesday at Mosienko. Wednesday night pits the Peguis Juniors in Fisher River to play the Hawks. Thursday evening sees OCN travel to Cross Lake. Friday night has two South division rivalry games as Lundar hosts Selkirk & St. Malo plays host to the Satelites. Saturday sees Fisher River on the road in OCN, while Peguis heads to Norway House. On Sunday, the Hawks play their second in OCN, while Peguis heads to Cross Lake to close out their road trip.
