KJHL weekly action began Tuesday night as the Satelites played host to the Arborg Ice Dawgs.
Arborg 4 - Satelites 3 (OT)
Colton Davies led Arborg with 2 goals, while Cal Finnson finished with 2 assists. Derric Gulay scored the OT winner. Jordan Liske made 39 saves in the game to earn the win.
Howard Grieves scored once and added 2 assists to lead the Satelites. Nico Lisi chipped in with 2 helpers. Wyatt Emes made 45 saves in the game.
On Thursday, the OCN Storm travelled to Norway House to play the North Stars.
OCN 12 - Norway House 3
The Storm got a hat trick and an assist from Bryson Werbicki-Mallet. Both Antoni Grieves & Harold Linklater scored 2 goals and added 2 assists. Brody Personius chipped in with a goal and 2 assists & Jared McGillvary added 3 helpers. Ron Fiddler faced 16 shots in the game, stopping 13 of them to earn the win.
Durrel Rots, Conley Spence & Roman Muminawatum all scored for Norway House. Caige Halcrow faced 24 goals in the start, stopping 18. Brendan McLeod came on in relief and faced 41 shots and stopped 36.
Friday night had a busy 3 games on the schedule.
Cross Lake 5 - Fisher River 1
Tyler Monias paced the Islanders with 2 goals, while both Josh Mallet and Tanner Poker added 2 assists. Treymian Trout finished with a goal and an assist. Kris Wood-Ross stopped 48 of the 49 shots he faced in the game to earn the win.
Dylan Bird-Wilson scored the only goal for the Hawks. Nolan Favel turned aside 42 of the 47 shots he faced in the game.
In other Friday action, the Lundar Falcons played host to the North Winnipeg Satelites.
Lundar 3 - Satelites 0
Landen Gray continued to lead the Falcons, scoring twice in this game. Dennon Sichewski dished out 2 helpers in the game. Braydon Weatherburn stopped all 40 shots he faced in the game, to earn the win and the shutout.
No Satelites' player found the back of the net, but Wyatt Emes stopped 29 of the 32 shots he faced in the game.
The final scheduled game Friday was between OCN and St. Malo.
OCN 7 - St. Malo 5
OCN's Harold Linklater led the team with 2 goals and an assist. Aavory Wilkie & Camach Lathlin added a goal and 2 assists each. Devon Tobacco & Jayden Young-Head both finished with 2 points. Anthony Fontaine stopped 32 shots in the game for the win.
The Warriors were led by Jared Hunter with 2 goals. Jonathan Kostek, Jared Magne and Tyrel Bueckert all finished with a goal and an assist. Dustin Wiebe added 2 assists. David Allaire faced 52 shots in the game, stopping 45 of them.
Saturday night also had 3 games on the schedule.
OCN 6 - Selkirk 5
Mikey Markus scored twice and added an assist to lead the Storm. Antoni Grieves scored a goal and an assist & Harold Linklater finished with 2 assists. Anthony Fontaine stopped 23 of the 28 shots he faced for the win.
Auzzie Loewen & Milan Horanski both scored a goal and added an assist. Travis Schalk faced 43 shots, stopping 37 of them.
St. Malo 9 - Peguis 5
Riley Hunter led the Warriors with 2 goals and 3 assists. Dustin Wiebe scored 1 time and added 3 assists. Jared Magne scored a goal and added 2 assists. Jordy Hill, Elmar Tabler & Dean Loder all finished the game with 2 points. Noah Fournier started the game, allowing 3 goals on 18 shots. David Allaire came on in relief in the 2nd, and stopped 30 of 32 shots.
The Juniors were led by Devon Garson with a hat trick, Theoren Spence with a goal and 2 assists & Waylon Neault who added 3 helpers. Tyrome Spence-Bair & Tyler Woodhouse both finished with 2 points. Luke Penner faced 59 shots in the game, stopping 50 of them.
Cross Lake 7 - Lundar 4
Clint Armstrong scored 2 goals and added an assist. Tie Braun chipped in with a goal and an assist & Vince Scott scored twice. Kris Wood-Ross allowed 4 goals on 37 shots to earn the win.
The Falcons were led by Landen Gray who recorded 3 assists. Jack Clinton finished with 2 assists & Trent Laycock scored a goal and added an assist. Braydon Weatherburn turned aside 31 of the 36 shots he saw in the game.
The week of play closed on Sunday with just 2 games on the schedule.
Arborg 6 - Fisher River 3
The Ice Dawgs' Colton Davies scored twice and added 2 assists to pace them. Clint Torfason chipped in with a goal and an assist, while Dylan Furgala added 2 assists. Jordan Liske stopped 30 of the 33 shots he faced to earn the win.
Darryl Thaddeus recorded 3 assists for the Hawks. Arnold Mason and Brennan Cochrane both scored once and added an assist. Jarrod Smith stopped 50 of 56 shots, allowing 6 goals.
Selkirk 4 - Peguis 0
Milan Horanski scored twice, while Harley Hoydalo added a goal and an assist to lead the Fishermen. Riley Bannerman turned aside all 33 shots in the game, earning the shutout win.
No Peguis player found the net, but Luke Penner stopped 36 of the 40 shots he saw in the game.
Upcoming KJHL action begins on Tuesday as the Satelites play host to the Fishermen. Wednesday night sees the Warriors on the road to lock up with Lundar. Thursday night pits the Cross Lake Islanders vs the Norway House North Stars. Friday night is a battle of South division teams, as the Fishermen head to Lundar and the Satelites are in St. Malo. Saturday evening adds two more games, while the Fisher River Hawks head to Norway House for a double header (originally Cross Lake, however an arena issue caused some adjustments to the schedule). Arborg also heads to OCN. Sunday sees the Hawks complete their Norway House road trip, while the Warriors head to Selkirk to play the Fishermen & in the final action of the week, Arborg heads to Peguis.
