Action was set to begin this week on Wednesday, in Cross Lake, however due to continued ice plant issues there, the contest between Norway House and Cross Lake was postponed. This meant that the first time KJHL teams were in action this week was Friday, and it was a busy night with 8 teams on the schedule.
Selkirk 7 – Cross Lake 1
Selkirk’s offence was provided by Milan Horanski with 2 goals and an assist. Griffin Steeves added 2 goals. Both Mike Smiley & Drayton Mendrun recorded 2 assists each. Riley Bannerman faced on 16 shots in the game, stopping 15 of them to earn the win.
Cross Lake’s lone goal was scored by Treymian Trout. Kris Wood-Ross faced 48 shots in the game, stopping 41 of them.
OCN 11 – Norway House 5
Last year’s KJHL leading scorer Mitchell Tilley fired off 3 goals and 2 assists to lead the Storm. Tony Apetagon and Camacho Lathlin both scored once and added 3 assists each. Harold Linklater recorded a hat trick, while Aavory Wilkie scored a goal and dished out 2 helpers. Broady Personius finished with 2 assists. Anthony Fontaine turned aside 30 of the 35 shots he faced in the game for the win.
Darrian Sinclair scored twice and added an assist for the North Stars. Durrel Rots scored once and added 2 assists, while Conley Spence added a goal and an assist. Wendell Easter finished with 2 assists. Brendan McLeod stopped 30 of the 41 shots he faced in Norway House’s goal.
Lundar 5 – St. Malo 3
Dennon Sichewski scored two goals to pace the Falcons. Shayne Desjarlais chipped in with a goal and an assist, and Landen Gray finished the game with 2 helpers. Braydon Weatherburn stopped 37 of the 40 shots thrown at him to earn the win for Lundar.
St. Malo got 2 assists from Riley Hunter to lead the team, while Brett Jocelyn, Jared Hunter & Tyrel Bueckert all scored single goals. David Allaire made 17 stops in the Warriors’ goal.
Arborg 13 – Fisher River 1
Jordan Kristjanson scored 3 times and added an assist, while Dylan Furgala scored once and added 3 assists to both finish with 4 points. Spencer Kilbrei scored once and added 2 assists and Derric Gulay finished with 3 assists. Byron Gard, Josh Boone, Ryan Pochailo, Karson Collins, Corbin Pasternak, Clint Torfason & Colton Davies all finished the game with 2 points. Nathan Friesen faced 29 shots in the game, stopping all but one to earn the win.
Fisher River’s only goal came off the stick of Josh Beaulieu. Nolan Favel was peppered with 78 shots in the game. He made 65 saves in the loss.
After the busy Friday night, Saturday’s schedule only included 2 games.
Selkirk 3 – Arborg 1
The Fish got 2 goals from Milan Horanski to lead the team. Auzzie Loewen scored the other marker. Travis Schalk stopped 30 of the 31 shots he faced from his old team, earning the win for Selkirk.
Arborg’s lone goal was scored by Colton Davies. Dylan Ossachuk made 45 saves on 48 shots in the Ice Dawgs’ goal.
Peguis 6 – Cross Lake 4
The Juniors offence came from Keesin Richard who scored a goal and added 2 assists. Quinton Flett dished out 3 helpers. Waylon Neault & Tyrome Spence-Bair both scored twice. Dray Flett turned aside 32 of the 36 shots he faced in the game for the win.
Cross Lake was led by Treymian Trout with 2 goals. Brandon McKay chipped in with a goal and an assist. Kris Wood-Ross faced 42 shots in the game, stopping 36 of them.
There were no games on Sunday.
As November comes to a close, there are a few games scheduled. Tuesday night sees the St. Malo Warriors head to Mosienko to play the Satelites. Wednesday night sees Arborg in Fisher River to play the Hawks. December opens with a matchup between Fisher River & Peguis. Friday night has 6 teams in action: the Satelites are in Selkirk to play the Fishermen, Arborg heads to Lundar and Norway House is on the road in St. Malo. Saturdaycontinues with 3 more games as the Cross Lake Islanders play in OCN, St. Malo is at Arborg and Norway House makes a stop in Peguis. The week of action closes on Sunday with Norway House in Fisher River and Lundar heading to Selkirk.
