This week's KJHL games began Tuesday night, as it often does, with an important match up between the Lundar Falcons and the North Winnipeg Satelites.
North Winnipeg 4 - Lundar 1
The Satelites were led by Howard Grieves, with a goal and an assist. Parker Cassie, Nico Lisi & Derian Emes all scored single goals. Wyatt Emes turned aside 29 of the 30 shots thrown his way, earning the win.
Lundar's lone goal was scored by Mason Medeiros. Travis Rigden saw 53 shots, stopping 50 of them.
Wednesday evening had two games on the docket.
Cross Lake 8 - Norway House 0
The Islanders were paced by Keith Monias, who scored once & added 2 assists. Marcus Garrioch, Treymian Trout & Tanner Poker all scored 1 goal & dished out 1 assist. Brandon McKay scored two goals of his own. Tory Monias stopped all 59 shots sent his way, to earn the shutout win.
No North Star found the net. Brendan McLeod faced 71 shots, making 63 saves.
Arborg 8 - Fisher River 1
Spencer Kilbrei led the Ice Dawgs, scoring twice & adding 2 helpers. Clint Torfason chipped in with a hat trick and Dylan Furgala recorded 3 assists. Kyle Barkman & Corbin Pasternak both finished with 2 assists. Dylan Ossachuk stopped 40 of 41 shots, earning the win.
Brennan Cochrane scored the only Hawks goal. Nolan Favel faced 62 shots, stopping 54 of them.
There was a single game on Thursday night.
OCN 15 - Cross Lake 1
Harold Linklater scored once & added 5 assists, while Tony Apetagon added 6 assists. Mitchell Tilley scored 4 times in the game. Camacho Lahlin recorded 2 goals and 2 assists. Ausin Caza & Aavory Wilkie both finished with 3 points. Edward Lachose, Brandon Sinclair-Martin and Rylan Bartley all added 2 points. Kieran Weseen stopped 22 of the 23 shots he faced in the game, to earn the win.
Cross Lake's lone goal was scored by Vince Scott. Tory Monias started the game, facing 54 shots & making 47 saves. Kris Wood-Ross came on in relief, and stopped 13 of the 21 shots he saw.
Friday was a little busier, with 3 games.
OCN 15 - Norway House 6
The Storm got 2 goals & 6 assists from Austin Caza. Michell Tilley got in on the act with 5 goals & 1 assist. Brandon Sinclair-Martin scored 3 times and dished out 1 assist. Harold Linklater, Micheal Markus & Devon Tobacco all finished with 3 points. Ed Lachose, Rylan Bartley & Aavory Wilkie all finished with 2 points. Anthony Fontaine made 42 saves on 48 shots to record the victory.
Norway House was led by Hunter York with 2 goals & 1 assist. Conley Spence & Mitchell Muskego both finished with 2 points. Brendan McLeod faced 76 shots in the game, making 61 saves.
Peguis 3 - Arborg 2
Peguis was led by Devon Garson, who provided all of their goals, with a hat trick. Quinton Flett & Tyrome Spence-Bair both recorded 2 assists. Luke Penner turned aside 32 of the 34 shots he faced for the win.
Karson Collins scored both Ice Dawgs goals. Dylan Ossachuk faced 38 shots & made 35 saves.
Selkirk 6 - St. Malo 5
Milan Horanski led the Fishermen with 3 goals and 3 assists. Drayton Mendrun added 2 goals of his own. Thomas Mironuk & Griffin Steeves both dished out 2 helpers. Travis Schalk faced 37 shots, making 32 saves to earn the win.
Ben Olson, Elmar Tabler & Jonathan Kostek all recorded a goal and an assist. Jared Magne added 2 assists. David Allaire faced 44 shots in the game, making 38 saves.
Saturday only had one game on the schedule.
Norway House 4 - Lundar 2
Hunter York led the North Stars with a hat trick. Brendan McLeod turned aside 49 of the 51 shots sent his way to earn the win for Norway House.
Austin Nikkel scored both Falcons goals. Braydon Weatherburn faced 61 shots from the North Stars, stopping 57 of them.
Sunday action picked up again with 3 games to close out the last full week of January action.
Cross Lake 9 - Lundar 2
Cross Lake saw their offence provided by Tanner Poker, who scored twice & added 3 assists. Kirk Robinson recorded 4 assists in the game. Keith Monias, Marcus Garrioch & Treymian Trout all finished with 3 points. Tyler Monias & Clinton Armstrong each added 2 points. Tory Monias stopped 56 of the 58 shots sent at him for the win.
Jason Nikkel & Eric Miller each scored single goals. Travis Rigden saw 62 shots, making 53 saves.
North Winnipeg 5 - St. Malo 1
The Satelites' Braden Zamrykut led all scorers with a goal & 3 assists. Nico Lisi added 2 assists. Wyatt Emes finished with 36 saves on 37 shots to earn the win.
St. Malo's only goal was scored by Tyrel Bueckert. Noah Fournier started the game, stopping 13 of 18 shots. Alec St. Georges faced 16 shots and stopped them all.
Selkirk 3 - Peguis 2 (SO)
Selkirk got two goals from Kale Ilchena, as well as the shootout winner. Riley Bannerman stopped 22 of 24 shots send his way.
The Juniors got single goals from Tristan Slater & Theoren Spence. Luke Penner made 43 saves on 45 shots.
Upcoming KJHL action begins Tuesday night as the North Winnipeg Satelites play host to the Selkirk Fishermen. It continues on Wednesday as the OCN Storm roll into Norway House. Friday night has three games on the schedule with Fisher River in Cross Lake, North Winnipeg in Lundar & St. Malo playing host to Peguis. Saturday evening also has 3 games. Fisher River plays their second in Cross Lake, Arborg heads to Peguis to play the Juniors & OCN makes a stop in Lundar. There are no games on Sunday as the league takes a break to enjoy the Super Bowl.
