KJHL action began Remembrance Day with an evening matchup as the St. Malo Warriors rolled in to Peguis to battle the Juniors. The Warriors opened the scoring in the first, only to have the Juniors answer back to tie. The second period saw the Juniors score the only two goals of the period to hold a 3-1 lead. St. Malo scored a powerplay goal 18 seconds in the 3rd to cut the lead to 3-2, however Peguis scored 24 seconds later to regain a 2 goal advantage. The Juniors added 4 more goals in the period, with one answer from the Warriors, as they closed out the game for the 8-3 win.
Darryl Flett led the Juniors with 3 goals and an assist, and Joseph Sutherland added 2 goals of his own and an assist. Tyler McKay & Presley Beaulieu each chipped in with a goal and assist, while Theoren Spence & Presley Kirkness added 2 helpers a piece. Keifer Tacan turned aside 46 shots for the win.
The Warriors got 2 goals from Bryden Johnson, while Justin Collette added a goal and an assist. Jared Magne chipped in with 2 assists. Jordan Taylor made 37 saves in the loss.
The next action took place on Wednesday, seeing the North Winnipeg Satelites travel north to Arborg to match up with the Ice Dawgs. The Satelites got on the board first, only to see the Ice Dawgs tie the game up in the last several minutes. The second period saw the Satelites score twice in the first 5 minutes to open a 3-1 lead, but Arborg battled back with one of their own, and the period ended 3-2 North Winnipeg. The 3rd period saw the Satelites tally the only 2 goals of the period, as they opened up a 5-2 lead, and closed out the game at that score.
North Winnipeg was led by Kevin Haines, with 2 goals and an assist. Kyle Collins & Scott Douglas each chipped in with a goal and an assist, while Vinny Carriere added 2 assists. Keaton Klassen turned aside 40 shots in the game, allowing two goals to record the victory.
The Ice Dawgs got single goals from Byron Gard & Jesse Chupka. Travis Schalk made 36 saves in the game for Arborg.
Friday nights game saw the Ice Dawgs back in action, heading to St. Malo to match up with the Warriors. The Ice Dawgs opened the scoring just 13 seconds in the game, and then added a second goal on the power play later in the period. The second period saw neither team score, and closed with the Ice Dawgs clinging to their 2-0 lead. The 3rd period was dominated by the Ice Dawgs on the scoresheet, as they added 3 goals, and held on for a 5-0 win.
Cal Finnson & Jesse Chupka each scored a goal and added an assist, while Trent Kroeker, Travis Kilbrei & Talon Kelly each added single goals for the Ice Dawgs. Jon Narverud made 40 saves for the win and the shutout.
No Warrior found the back of the net in this game, but Tanner Friesen made 27 saves in the game for St. Malo.

The OCN Storm put their undefeated record on the line as they locked up with the North Winnipeg Satelites at Mosienko. The game saw the Satelites grab a 2-0 first period lead on goals spread 8 minutes apart. OCN battled back, scoring two goals of their own in the 2nd period, and sending the game to the 3rd period tied 2-2. The third was all Satelites, who scored 4 goals in 8 minutes of play, to hand the Storm their first loss, and takeover first place in the KJHL.
North Winnipeg was led by Kyle Collins, with a goal and 2 assists. Kevin Haines chipped in with 2 goals, while both Jason Campbell & Darrel Kilburn added a goal and an assist. Ben Ingimundson added 2 assists in the game. Marc Hildebrand continued his strong play, turning aside 30 shots to record the win.
The Storm got single goals from Justice Genaille & Isaiah Francis in the game. Luke Penner made 39 saves in the net for OCN.
Lundar travelled east to Selkirk to match up with the Fishermen. The Falcons opened the scoring the game, and held a 1-0 until the Fishermen tallied two of their own, and closed out the first with a 2-1 lead. The 2nd period was all Fishermen, as they added 4 goals in the period, and went to the 3rd leading 6-1. The teams traded third period goals, as the Fishermen cruised to a 7-2 win in the front of the home crowd.
The Fishermen got 2 goals from Tanner MacVicar. Michael Smiley & Jeremy Pachkowsky each added a goal and an assist. Cory Balcaen tallied 2 assists in the game. Bretton Fewchuk wasn't overly busy, turning aside 16 shots in the game to record the win.
The Falcons' Aldyn Gray scored both Lundar goals. Randy Quick made 21 saves in the game.
The last game on the schedule for Saturday had the Fisher River Hawks head to Norway House for a weekend match up with the North Stars. Norway House opened a 2-0 lead in front of their home crowd, only to see the Hawks battle back to tie the game before the first was over. The second period saw a flurry of North Stars goals, as they tallied 4 times to open a 6-2 lead. The Hawks answered back with one, but the 2nd ended with Norway House leading 6-3. Each team found the net once in the 3rd, with the North Stars closing out the game with a 7-4 win.
Norway House was led by Kenley Monias, Greg Paupanekis, Glen Paupanekis & Jameson Scott who each scored once and added an assist. Pavel Muskego got on the scoresheet with 2 assists. Sean Bradburn made 24 saves in the game to record the win.
Fisher River saw 4 different scorers tally goals - Dean Cameron, Darryl Thaddeus, Gavin Mason & Tristan Starr. Dakota Johnson turned aside 38 saves in the Hawks' net.
Sunday's action saw game 2 of the Fisher River Hawks in Norway House. Norway House stormed out to a 3-0 first period lead, and never looked back. They added four more second period goals, while Fisher River got on the scoreboard with a goal of their own, but trailed 7-1 after 40 minutes. Norway House added 6 more goals to their total in the 3rd period, surrending a last second marker to Fisher River, and cruised to a 13-2 win over the visiting Hawks.
Kenley Monias scored 3 times and added an assist, to close the weekend with 4 goals and 2 assists. Sam McKay & Braeden Boschman each added 2 goals and an assist, while Garrison Garrioch, Brenden Hart & Josh Mallet each tallied 3 assists. Trevor Scribe & Glen Paupanekis each added 2 goals and Travis Scribe, Jameson Scott, Tie Braun and Pavel Muskego all finished with 2 points. Greg McLeod turned aside 32 shots in the game for the win.
The Hawks’ got single goals from Darryl Thaddeus and McCraie Sinclair. It was a tough afternoon for Fisher River goalies, as both Ryan Bruyere started and played the first, surrending 3 goals on 17 shots. Dakota Johnson played the final 40 minutes of the game, making 34 saves on 44 shots.
The second game of the day saw the OCN look to get back into the win column, as they locked up with the Peguis Juniors. OCN rebounded from their Saturday night loss, but scoring twice in the first period and holding a 2-0 lead. They tacked on 2 more goals before the mid-way point of the game, and were up 4-0. Not to be outdone, Peguis stormed back with 3 straight goals, to draw within one. Both OCN & Peguis scored in the final few minutes of the second, and it was 5-4 Storm after 40 minutes. The 3rd period saw the Storm add to their lead, scoring three times in 2:20, and holding on for the 8-4 victory.
The OCN Storm got 2 goals and 3 assists from Mitch Tilley. Maxwell Shoo added 2 goals and an assist, while Justice Genaille tallied 3 assists. Harold Linklater chipped in with a goal and an assist and Tinoshi Mizushima added 2 helpers. Luke Penner was strong in the Storm goal as he made 47 saves on 51 to hold off the Juniors offence and record the win.
The Peguis offensive attack was led by Presley Kirkness with a goal and 3 assists, and Darryl Flett who added 4 helpers. Tyler McKay scored twice. Keifer Tacan started the game, allowing 4 goals on 21 shots. He was replaced by Jarrod Smith, who allowed 4 goals, on 29 shots, including the eventual game winner.
Upcoming action this week in the KJHL begins Tuesday, as the Selkirk Fishermen renew their long-time rivalry with the North Winnipeg Satelites. Wednesday night has 4 teams in action, with Fisher River battling the Falcons in Lundar and Arborg heading to Peguis to match up wit the Juniors. Friday's lone game sees the Lundar Falcons in action against the St. Malo Warriors. Saturday has three games on the schedule - the Fisher River Hawks play the Selkirk Fishermen, the Norway House North Stars travel to St. Malo and the Arborg Ice Dawgs head to OCN for a weekend set. Sunday sees the second game between Arborg and OCN, while Norway House makes a stop in Fisher River.
