Week 3 Wrap-Up

This week’s KJHL action began on Tuesday, as the Selkirk Fishermen paid a visit to Mosienko Arena and the North Winnipeg Satelites.

Selkirk 6 – North Winnipeg 0

Selkirk was led by Auzzie Loewen, who had an Auston Matthews-like performance with 4 goals.  Coel Forsyth chipped in with a goal and 3 assists.  Gordie Longbottom and Talon Kelly both skated away with 2 points.  Travis Schalk stopped all 27 shots he faced to record the shutout win.

No North Winnipeg found the back of the net, however Wyatt Emes made 32 saves in the Satelites goal.

Wednesday night saw the Peguis Juniors travel to Fisher River to continue their rivalry with the Hawks.

Fisher River 11 – Peguis 7

Fisher River’s Christian Cochrane & Johnny Beaulieu each scored 3 times and added an assist in to lead the Hawks.  Josh Beaulieu added a goal and 3 assists while Jared Thickfoot dished out 4 helpers.  Darryl Thaddeus and Brent Sutherland each recorded 3 points and Arnold Mason finished with 2 points.  Nolan Favel made 33 saves on 40 shots for the win.

Peguis was led by Tyler Woodhouse who scored a hat trick and added 2 assists.  Keifer Tacan scored twice and added 2 assists.  Devon Garson finished with 3 points and Theoren Spence & Tristan Starr both finished with 2 points.  Dray Flett faced 43 shots in the game, making 32 saves.

Thursday night’s game saw the OCN Storm travel to Cross Lake to play the Islanders.

OCN 9 – Cross Lake 6

Tony Apetagon paced the Storm with 3 goals and 2 asissts.  Mikey Markus & Austin Wilkie scored twice and added an assist, while Harold Linklater scored a goal and chipped in with 2 assists.  Bryson Werbicki-Mallet, Brandon Sinclair-Martin and Messier Constant all finished with 2 points.  Anthony Fontaine was solid in goal, stopping 30 of the 36 shots he faced.

Rosaire McKay led the Islanders with a hat trick.  Vince Scott & Treymian Trout both finished with 2 points.  Tory Monias made 30 saves in the game.

Friday night saw two games scheduled, with all 4 South Division teams in action.  Selkirk hit the road to visit Lundar, while North Winnipeg headed south to play the St. Malo Warriors.

Selkirk 4 – Lundar 1

The Fishermen were led by Thomas Mironuk with a goal and an assist & Connor Spratt with 2 assists.  Riley Bannerman helped his team stay unbeaten, stopping 22 of the 23 shots he faced for the win.

Lundar’s lone goal was scored by Maurice Hince, with assists to Brody Southby & Shayne Desjarlais.  Nick Lewis made 46 saves in the Falcons’ goal.

St. Malo 8 – North Winnipeg 5

The Warriors offence was led by Dean Loder with a hat trick.  Both Jared Magne & Jared Hunter chipped in with a goal and an assist.  Brady Allan, Nolan McElroy, Brett Jocelyn, and Ben Olson all added 2 assists.  Noah Fournier finished the game with 18 saves to record the win.

North Winnipeg’s Sam Batt & Colin Yarchuk each scored once and added an assist.  Erik Rogalka dished out two assists.  Derick Vinsky started the game, stopping 14 of the 19 shots he saw.  Wyatt Emes finished the game, stopping 26 of the 29 shots he faced.

The weekend schedule originally had 4 games on the go, with 2 on each of Saturday and Sunday.  However due to unforeseen, exceptional circumstances , the games between Fisher River and OCN had to be postponed.  That left just Peguis on a Northern road trip, where they hit Norway House on Saturday night.

Peguis 13 – Norway House 3

Peguis was led by Devon Garson with 3 goals and 2 assists.  Waylon Neault added 2 goals and 2 assists, while Quinton Flett scored a hat trick & added an assist.  Keesin Richard, Theoren Spence, Keifer Tacan & Tyone Spence all finished with 3 points.  Luke Penner turned aside 26 of the 29 shots he faced to earn the win.

Norway House’s Harley Muminwatum was in on all 3 goals, finishing with 3 assists.  Durell Rots had a goal and an assist.  Brendan McLeod faced 69 shots in the game, stopping 56 of them.

Sunday saw Peguis travel to Cross Lake to complete their trip.

Peguis 6 – Cross Lake 5 (OT)

The Juniors got 2 goals and an assist from Waylon Neault.  Theoren Spence scored twice, including the OT winner.  Quinton Flett, Keifer Tacan, Devon Garson, Sam Spence & Tyrone Spence all finished with 2 points.  Luke Penner stopped 30 shots in the game to earn the win.

Cross Lake’s Treymian Trout led the Islanders’ with 2 goals and an assist.  Keith Monias, Marcus Garrioch & Tyrell Armstrong all finished the game with 2 points.  Kris Wood-Ross stopped 30 shots in the game to earn a single point for his team.

The final week of KJHL action for October kicks off on Tuesday night, as the Peguis Juniors head to Winnipeg to lock horns with the Satelites.  Play continues Thursday, when the Cross Lake Islanders head to Norway House to play the North Stars.  Friday is a busy night of games, with 3 on the schedule.  The Satelites are hosted by Lundar, OCN travels south to play Peguis & Fisher River meets up with Arborg.  Saturday sees OCN head over to Fisher River while Selkirk is back in action, and heading north to play the Norway House North Stars.  Sunday action completes Selkirk’s road trip as they make a stop in Cross Lake, while Lundar heads to Arborg to play the Ice Dawgs.
