The final week of action for October began Tuesday night as the Peguis Juniors headed to Mosienko to play the North Winnipeg Satelites.

Peguis 6 – North Winnipeg 4

Romano Paul paced the Juniors with 3 goals.  Keesin Richard added a goal and 2 assists & Theoren Spence chipped in with 3 assists.  Coulson Nepinak added 2 assists.  Luke Penner made 32 saves on 36 shots for the win.

Nico Lisi scored 2 goals and added 2 assists to be in on all of his teams goals.  Howard Grieves added a goal and 2 assists of his own, while Braden Zamrykut dished out 2 helpers.  Wyatt Emes made 33 saves in the Satelites net.

Thursday evening saw Cross Lake play in Norway House.

Cross Lake 10 – Norway House 0

The Islanders got a goal and 3 assists from Keith Monias.  Treymian Trout added a hat trick.  Tie Braun, Tyler Monias, Clinton Armstrong, Vince Scott & Justin Dorion all finished the game with 2 points.  Kris Wood-Ross stopped all 33 shots he faced in the game to earn the win and the shutout.

The young North Stars struggled to find the back of the net, however continue to improve.  Brendan McLeod faced 62 shots in the game, stopping 52 of them.

Friday night was a busy evening, with 3 games on the go.

Fisher River 9 – Arborg 2

The Hawks were led by Brennan Cochrane, who scored 3 times and added 2 assists.  Josh Beaulieu recorded 2 goals & 2 assists & Johnny Beaulieu scored a goal and added 2 assists.  Darryl Thaddeus dished out 3 helpers in the game.  Jared Thickfoot & Brent Sutherland each finished the game with 2 points.  Nolan Favel was solid in goal, stopping 37 of the 39 shots he saw for the win.

Neal Sigvaldason & Jordan Woytowich each scored a goal.  Jordan Liske started the game in the Ice Dawgs’ net, stopping 37 of the 45 shots thrown his way.  Nathan Friesen relieved him, making 12 saves on 13 shots.

OCN played the first of a two game road trip, making a stop in Peguis.

Peguis 11 – OCN 6

Peguis’ Waylon Neault & Theoren Spence both scored twice and added 2 assists.  Quinton Flett & Tyrome Spence-Bair added 2 goals and an assist, while Tyler Woodhouse had 3 assists & Romano Paul scored once and added an assist.  Devon Garson, Tristan Starr & Coulson Nepinak all finished with 2 points.  Luke Penner faced 44 shots in the game, stopping 38 of them on his way to the win.

Tony Apetagon scored 3 times and added 2 assists for the Storm.  Mitchell Tilley, the 2015-16 KJHL scoring leader, scored once and added 2 assists, while Austin Caza had 3 helpers.  Bryson Werbicki-Mallet finished with 2 assists.  Anthony Fontaine had 50 shots thrown at him, and stopped 39 of them.

Friday’s final game saw the North Winnipeg Satelites on the road to play the Lundar Falcons.

Lundar 7 – North Winnipeg 4

The Falcons’ offence was led by Landen Gray, who scored twice & added 2 assists.  Dennon Sichewski finished the game with 2 goals and an assist & Jason Nikkel recorded the hat trick.  Brody Southby and Jack Clinton both recorded 2 assists.  Nick Lewis made 30 saves on 34 shots for the win.

Braden Zamrykut scored two goals for the Satelites.  Wyatt Emes faced 32 shots in the game, making 25 saves.

Both Saturday and Sunday had two games scheduled on each day.

Saturday night saw OCN finish up their road trip, hitting up Fisher River to play the Hawks.

The game was filled with offence, with a combined 19 goals.

OCN 11 – Fisher River 8

Austin Caza had a night to remember, scoring 4 times and adding 3 assists for 7 points to lead the Storm.  Mitchell Tilley added 2 of his own, while dishing out 4 helpers as well.  Tony Apetagon scored 2 goals and added an assist.  Bryson Werbicki-Mallet & Devon Tobacco both finished with 2 points.  Anthony Fontaine faced 42 shots in the game, stopping 34 of them to earn the win.

Fisher River’s Evan Thickfoot scored once and added 3 assists.  Sam Spence, Darryl Thaddeus, Brennan Cochrane & Josh Beaulieu all finished the game with 2 points.  Nolan Favel faced 36 shots in the Hawks’ goal, stopping 25 of them.

Selkirk headed north for a two game road trip, first with a stop in Norway House.

Selkirk 15 – Norway House 1

Selkirk’s offence was led by Milan Horanski with 3 goals and an assist, Auzzie Loewen with 2 goals & 2 assists & Drayton Mendrun with a goal and 3 assists.  Gordie Longbottom, Connor Cyr, Kale Ilchena, Griffin Steeves, Dawson Courchene & Dylan Painchaud-Niemi all finished with 2 points.  Travis Schalk faced 29 shots in the game, making 28 saves for the Fishermen win.

Norway House lone goal was scored by Durrel Rots.  Joel Monias played nearly 2 ½ periods, facing 45 shots and making 33 saves.  Caige Halcrow saw 10 shots and made 7 saves in his action.

On Sunday, Selkirk finished their weekend road trip with a game in Cross Lake.

Selkirk 3 – Cross Lake 0

Connor Cyr got the game winner & Drayton Mendrun finished with a goal and an assist.  Griffin Steeves added an empty net goal late in the 3rd.  Riley Bannerman continued his strong play, stopping all 30 shots he faced to earn the win and a shutout.

No Islander could break the shutout.  Kris Wood-Ross faced 32 shots in the game, making 30 saves.

The final weekend game pitted the Lundar Falcons against the Arborg Ice Dawgs.

Arborg 3 – Lundar 2

The Ice Dawgs’ got single goals from Spencer Kilbrei, Neal Sigvaldason & Braydon Chwartacki, with Kilbrei scoring the eventual winner.  Jordan Liske turned aside 40 of the 42 shots the Falcons threw his way, to earn the win.

Lundar’s Landen Gray scored once and added an assist.  Braydon Weatherburn faced 37 shots in the game, and made 34 saves in the Falcon goal.

With one month of KJHL action in the books, we move to November.  Tuesday night sees the St. Malo Warriors play in Winnipeg against the Satelites.  Wednesday evening has rivals Peguis heading to Fisher River to lock up.  Thursday evening has Cross Lake travelling to OCN to play the Storm.  Friday night sees North Winnipeg head to Selkirk, while Arborg is in Peguis.  Saturday evening has Norway House on the road against the Satelites & St. Malo playing in Lundar.  The busiest day of the week, Sunday, has 3 games: Norway House is in Arborg to play the Ice Dawgs, Lundar heads to Fisher River to play the Hawks & St. Malo continues on the road in Selkirk against the Fishermen.
