WEEKEND WRAP - November 28th - December 1st
Monday, December 2, 2019 - Submitted by Webmaster

THURSDAY

The Norway House North Stars would play host to thier rivals from Cross Lake, doing battle with the Islanders while searching for their first win on the season. Cross Lake would come out early, and Kadin Ross would score to give the Islanders an early 1-0 lead. Elvis Balfour would respond shortly after, followed by another goal from Theorin Folster to give the North Stars a 2-1 lead after one period. The second period would start much the same, with Dennis Scatch tying things at 2, but that would be as close as the Islanders would come as Norway House would pull away with second period markers from Tanner Poker (on the powerplay) and Hunter York, followed by third period goals from Drew Tait-Reaume (on the powerplay), Roman Muminawatum, Tanner Poker's second on the night and Darian Brown to stake them to thier first win with a 8-3 win. Armando Evans would score late in the second period, and Peter Ross would take the loss stopping 26 of 34. Dominic Berniitic would pick up his first win stopping 32 of 35 shots. Norway House would be effective on the powerplay, finishing 3 for 8 on the night.

SATURDAY

The NCN Flames would hit the road to OCN to do battle with the Storm in a battle of the leagues top two teams. In a back and forth contest all night long with a high octane overtime period, OCN would pick up the win in the shootout 7-6. NCN would get goals from Trent North (3), Michael Venne, Jonathan Saunders and Albert Berard. OCN would get goals of the sticks of Bryson Werbicki-Mallet (3 - one each at even strength, on the powerplay and shorthanded), Chavez Constant (2 - with one coming shorthanded) and Keith Monias. Both goaltenders were busy, with Kruz Mitchell stopping 27 of 33 for NCN, and Braxton Constant stopping 15 of 21 for the Storm.

The Peguis Juniors would travel north to Norway House to take on the North Stars looking to keep pace with the NCN Flames in the standings. They would do just that, and would pick up a decisive 6-1 win on the road. Norway House would score early in the second with Theorin Folster picking up his second of the year. That would be all they would get however, as Nolan Favel would shut the door stopping 31 of 32. Goals from Ethan Daniels (2), Tyrome Spence (2), Darian Murdock and Josh Cameron would give them the two points they were looking for.

SUNDAY

Peguis would look for a weekend sweep in Norway House, and would get just that with a 6-4 win over the North Stars Sunday afternoon. Goals from Darian Murdock, Shane Bear, Josh Cameron (2), Tyrome Spence and Ethan Daniels, backstopped by Nolan Favel stopping 36 of 40 would help the Juniors keep pace with the Flames in picking up thier 13th point of the year. The North Stars would get goals from  Jonah Ross-Bradburn, Drew Tait-Reaume, Roman Muminawatum and Hunter Simpson. Jamie Anderson would be tabbed with the loss in net stopping 29 of 35.

The NCN Flames would look for a split in OCN, and would get what they were looking for with a decisive 12-5 win. A strong start, with six first period goals from Michael Markus (2), Chase Muswagon, Trent North (PP), Jonathan Saunders and Keistin Saunders would be enough. OCN would not go away in the second however, charging back with three unanswered from Bryson Werbicki-Mallet and Noah Butler (2). NCN would then reawake in the third with Michael Markus, Keistin Saunders (with his second), Keith Blacksmith, Henry Muchikekwanape and Jonathon Saunders (picking up his second and third on the night) all scoring to put up a 12-spot on the Storm. OCN would get third period markers from Bryson Werbicki-Mallet (his second of the game) and Keith Monias (SH). The Storm will get a weekend off before finishing up their pre-Christmas schedule with games in Cross Lake and Norway House, while the Flames will have a busy December with six games remaining before the holiday break.
