Wednesday Wrap-up - Week Seven

Webmaster

Week seven of the KJHL Schedule saw the Norway House North Stars kick off their season in OCN against the Storm, and the Peguis Juniors travel north to take on the league leading NCN Flames.

Saturday in Thompson, the Juniors would start hot and show no signs of bus legs in potting two quick first period goals. The Flames would respond in the second and put the Juniors on their heels scoring three of their own to lead after two. The momentum would shift again in the third as the Juniors would score five unanswered goals to skate away with a 7-3 win. Peguis would get goals off the sticks of Kyle Cochrane, Gabriel Beaulieu (2), Keelian Levasseur (2), Nathaniel Murdock and Marcuse Crate, while Tyrese Bear would make just 18 saves to pick up the win. NCN would respond with goals from Jase Robinson (2) and league leading point scorer Keistin Saunders. Rookie Landon Hofer would come in in relief and allow 5 goals in the losing effort.

Over in OCN Saturday, the Storm would be back on home ice at the GLMC. A back and forth game would see the Storm score three goals in each period and skate away with a 9-5 win. The offense was yet again lead by captain Chavez Constant who would put up six points. Goals were scored by Wesley Beardy, Harlan Jacobson, Constant (2), Roger Houle Jr., Conroy Halcrow, Troy Head, Blaine Dorion and Damon Constant. Taylor McLeod and Nolan Sinclair Jr. would split duties in the crease and make 43 saves. Norway House would get goals from Raheen Muswagon, Austin Henry, Brycen Fancour and Henry Muchikekwanape (2), and Austin Wheeler would be dealt the loss in net making 31 saves.

On Sunday, the Norway House North Stars would forfeit Sunday's contest against the OCN Storm.

Also on Sunday, the NCN Flames would battle the Peguis Juniors in a tight game in Nelson House. It would head to overtime and Diego Redhead would send the fans home happy with a hard-fought 5-4 win. NCN would get goals from  Jase Robinson, Jody Spence, Curtis Shamanski and the OT hero Redhead. Braedin Melstad would make 37 saves and pick up the win. Peguis would get goals from Ayden Manningway, Lyle Murdock and Nathaniel Murdock (2), while Tyrese Bear would be dealt the loss in making 44 saves.
