The Thunder Bay Fighting Walleye are pleased to announce the team has been named host of the Keystone Cup 2020, the Central Canada Junior B Championship. The tournament is expected to feature teams from Hockey Northwestern Ontario (HNO), Manitoba and Saskatchewan.
Keystone Cup 2020 will take place from April 23 to April 26 at the Thunder Bay Tournament Centre.
Fighting Walleye president Derek Geddes says his club is excited to host the prestigious tournament. “It is a great honour that the LJHL has entrusted us with hosting Keystone Cup," said Geddes. "We were fortunate enough to participate the last two years and we will use this experience to put on a first class event. We are working with the Prairie and Capital Region leagues as well as the Keystone to ensure Thunder Bay is treated to some incredible hockey.”
For the past two years the Keystone Cup has been contested as a 'border battle' between teams from HNO and Manitoba Hockey (Keystone Junior Hockey League). While not finalized, the 2020 version is hoping to include representatives from the Prairie Junior Hockey League (Saskatchewan) as well as the Capital Region Junior Hockey League (Manitoba).
Ticket package information and more exciting news will be announced in the coming weeks.
The Fighting Walleye main tryout camp begins on August 28. Players ages 16-21 that are interested may sign up at thunderbayfightingwalleye.com.

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
As the President of the Keystone Junior Hockey League, ahead of the start of a new season, I would like to acknowledge all of the hard work of the KJHL Executive Board, all of the team Governors, General Managers and Coaches on a job well done these past couple of seasons and the importance of keeping Junior Hockey alive and well in the North for our younger generation. The level of competition each team brings makes for exciting hockey, and any team can beat any team on any given night. We are excited for the start of a new season!
