WEEKEND WRAP - November 13th - 17th

WEDNESDAY

The Norway House North Stars would trek down the road to Cross Lake to do battle with the Cross Lake Islanders for a mid week game, while also looking for thier first victory on the year. Cross Lake would have other ideas, taking an 11-4 victory on home ice. Norway House would come out hot, with Ronald Muskego scoring just 1:36 into the game. However, Cross Lake would lock things down for the remainder of the period while scoring five of thier own. Logan Evans, Justin Dorion, Treyton Monias and Wilfred Mcleod with two would give them a 5-1 lead after one. The North Stars would once again score early in the period with Richard Ducharme scoring 30 seconds in, before Cross Lake would score four straight from Armando Evans, Quinton Scatch and Treyton Monias (2 - both on the powerplay). Ronald Muskego would get one on the powerplay late, before Ethan Muswagon would score one shorthanded to close out the second with a 10-3 edge. Teams would each score one in the third, with the Islanders getting one from Ethan Muswagon and the North Stars getting one from Hunter York to secure Cross Lake a 11-4 win. Marcus Ross would pick up the win stopping 52 of 56, dealing Dominic Berniitic the loss stopping 36 of 47.

FRIDAY

The Norway House North Stars travelled north Friday to take on the NCN Flames in Thompson looking for two points. A boisterous Thompson crowd would get the Flames into things early as Lance Laycock would score just 1:09 into the opening frame. Henry Muchikekwanape and Keenan Keeper would add to the Flames scoreboard, before Roman Mumunawatum would get the North Stars on the board with a powerplay tally. Michael Markus would score before the period would end, potting a shorthanded marker to give NCN a 4-1 lead after one. Tanner Poker would score early in the second cutting the Flames lead in half. From then on out, it would be all Flames, who would add goals from Albert Berard, Michael Markus (shorthanded), Calem Ross and Michael Venne (2) to skate the NCN Flames to a 9-2 win. Kruz Mitchell would pick up his first win stopping 15 of 17, while Dominic Berniitic would be kept very busy stopping 58 of 67 in the loss.

SATURDAY

It would be much of the same on Saturday in Nelson House, as NCN would score early and often dealing the Norway House North Stars thier ninth loss of the season in a 14-1 win. Goals off the sticks of Keistin Saunders (2), Lance Laycock (3), Albert Berard (2), Isiah Spence, Jonathan Saunders (3), Henry Muchikekwanape, Michael Markus and Michael Venne would see NCN go 0/4 on the powerplay. Norway House would get one from Tanner Poker on the powerplay to finish 1/8 on the man advantage. Braedin Melstad would be credited with the victory, and Dominic Berniitic the loss seeing tons of rubber in stopping 62 of 76 shots. 

Also on Saturday Cross Lake would hit the road to OCN to take on the Storm. With Tyrome Spence of Peguis closing the gap on Bryson Werbicki-Mallet in the scoring race, OCN would pick up a hard fought 10-7 win. While Cross Lake's powerplay would put forth 3 goals, it was not enough on a night when OCN would see a 3-point night from Sheldon Chartier (3 assists), 4-point nights from Keith Monias (4 goals) and Troy Head (3 goals, 1 assist) and a 5-point night from Bryson Werbicki-Mallet (2 goals, 3 assists). Braxton Constant would pick up the win stopping 24 of 31, while Peter Ross would get the loss stopping 29 of 39.

SUNDAY

An early afternoon start in OCN at the GLMC would see Cross Lake snap the Storm's 6-game winning streak, dealing them a 6-3 win. Vince Scott would score early for the Islanders, before Dray Garrick would get one on the powerplay to tie things up midway through the first. Kadin Ross and Dennis Scatch would stake the Islanders to a 3-1 lead after one with goals of their own. Wilfred Mcleod would get the second period's only goal just 1:16 in to give Cross Lake a 4-1 lead after two. Justin Dorion would add another to extend the lead to four, before Keith Monias would score for the Storm. Wilfred Mcleod would get his second of the night just 1:28 later to give the Islanders their four goal lead back. Bryson Werbicki-Mallet would score his 15th of the year midway through the 3rd, but that would be all they would get as Marcus Ross would shut the door stopping 38 of 41 to pick up the victory.
