Wednesday Wrap Up - Week Three

Wednesday Wrap Up - Week Three

Webmaster

Week three saw three games sprinkled throughout the week. Wednesday saw the NCN Flames stroll into Cross Lake and shutout the Islanders 5-0. Armando Evans would lead the way for the Flames, scoring once and adding three assists. Sam MacDonald and Keistin Saunders would also chip in with two points, each adding a goal and an assist. Braedin Melstad would pick up the win and shutout between the pipes, turning away 50 shots.

Saturday's action would also see the Islanders playing again, with them hosting the Peguis Juniors for their first meeting of the season. The Juniors would put up four first period goals and would skate their way to a 7-4 victory. Gaberial Beaulieau would lead the way for the Juniors with a hat trick and one assist. Bobby Orr-Roulette (2G,1A) and Sundance Paul (3A) would also add three points each, while Tyrese Bear would pick up the win with 49 saves. For the Islanders, captain Dreydin Garrick would put up a hat trick of his own in the losing effort.

Sunday's action would see a rematch between the Islanders and Juniors, with the Islanders looking for a different result to stop the losing skid. They would do just that, with Kadin Ross putting together a 5-point night (4G, 1A) in the win. Other goals would come off the sticks of Chance Richard, Julius Scribe and Draydin Robinson. Dawson Ross would start in net and pick up the win with 44 saves. Peguis would get markers from Sundance Paul, Gaberial Beaulieu, Marcus Crate and Ayden Daniels would pot two in the losing effort.

Week four actions see's another Wednesday matchup with the Cross Lake Islanders travelling to Thompson to take on the NCN Flames at 7pm. Weekend action will see the Peguis Juniors play host to the OCN Storm for a weekend doubleheader at the Multiplex. Puck drop is Saturday at 7:30pm and Sunday at 1:30pm. The Norway House North Stars continue to wait to play with a recent rise in COVID-19 cases within the community. More details, and an update to the schedule will be released when further information is available.

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Another hockey season is among us and I can’t express how excited we the KJHL are for another exciting season. A brief update on the KJHL, due to unfortunate and unforeseen circumstances, the Waywayseecappo Wild and the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation Selects will be taking a leave of absence for 1 year and will be back next season.  Business will go on per usual and the KJHL will operate with 5 teams, OCN Storm, Peguis Juniors, NCN Flames, Norway House Northstars and Cross Lake Islanders. The season will kick off on October 5th in Peguis as the Juniors host the Cross Lake Islanders and also in Nisichawaysihk as the Flames host the Norway House Northstars.  Every team is looking like a contender this season which means exciting hockey games.  We look forward to seeing you at the KJHL games this season and good luck to all teams!
