Wednesday Wrap Up - Week Ten

Wednesday Wrap Up - Week Ten

Webmaster

After a week hiatus, we're back to wrap up a busy week ten in the Keystone Junior Hockey League. The end of week ten see's a new team atop the standings with the Peguis Juniors taking the lead heading into the last weekend set of games prior to the Holiday break. The Norway House North Stars are gradually catching up in games played, and have pulled within one point of 4th place while still having three games in hand. Let's get to the recap:

Last week would end with weekday contests seeing the Islanders and North Stars split games. The Islanders however would pick up 3 of 4 points losing the Thursday contest in a shootout 7-6.

Saturday action saw the Norway House North Stars travel south to take on the Peguis Juniors. The Juniors would score three goals in each period and would skate away with the win 9-2. Lyle Murdock (2), Keenan McPherson (2), Darian Murdock (3), Keelian Levasseur and Nathaniel Murdock would pace the Juniors in the goal scoring department, while Tyrese Bear would make 17 saves in the win. Frederick Ledous and Richard Ducharme would score for the North Stars, and Austin Wheeler would make 29 saves in a losing effort. Also on Saturday, the OCN Storm would travel north to take on the league leading NCN Flames. The Storm would skate out to a 3-0 lead early in the third period, and the Flames would wake up and respond with three of their own to tie it at 3 at the end of regulation. League leading scorer would then take the game into his own hands, and score a powerplay goal to give the Storm the crucial two points and a 4-3 win. They would get goals from Constant and a hat trick from Blaine Dorion, and have Nolan Sinclair Jr. make 44 saves in the winning crease. The Flames would get goals from Keistin Saunders (2) and Armando Evans in the loss that would see Braedin Melstad make 27 saves and pick up a loss.

On Sunday, Peguis would look to sweep the North Stars at home and maintain their recently taken league lead with a win. Well, they would do just that and skate away with a 6-2 win over the North Stars. Goals for the Juinors would come from Kyle Cochrane, Darian Murdock (2), Gaberial Beaulieu and Dion Fontaine (2), while the North Stars would get goals from Lucien Tait-Reaume and Austin Henry. Tyrese Bear would get the win and would make 24 saves, while Odin Church would be dealt the loss for the North Stars. Up in Nelson House, the Flames would be out to even the weekend set, and would score early and often to skate away with a 10-2 win. Newcomer Michael Baron would lead the offense with a hat trick, Armando Evans and Jerome Linklater would score two each, and they would get singles from Sam MacDonald, Vernon Grieves and Chris Pynn. OCN would respond with goals of their own from Chavez Constant and Roger Houle Jr. Melstad would make 28 saves and pick up the win for the Flames, while Sinclair Jr. would stop 26 in a losing effort for the Storm.
