   Keystone Junior Hockey League:
KJHL Season Gets Underway
- Submitted by

The 2017-18 Keystone Junior Hockey League season got underway this weekend with nine of the 10 teams in action. Two-time defending champion Peguis Juniors began their season with a 7-3 victory over visiting OCN Storm.

Action began on Friday night when the Arborg Ice Dawgs traveling to face the St. Malo Warriors. Led by Colton Davies two goals and 31 saves by Joey Fratantonio, Arborg took two points winning in a shootout 4-3.

Selkirk Fishermen and Lundar Falcons also needed a shootout to decide a winner on Saturday night. Talon Kelly scored and assisted on a Mackenzie Playford goal in the second period to give the Fishermen the advantage. Lundar would tie it in the third before falling in the shootout.

Garrison Garrioch scored a pair, while Tie Braun and Treymian Trout each scored a goal and one assist to help the Cross Lake Islanders to a 6-0 victory over Fisher River Hawks. Goaltender Kris Wood-Ross made 56 saves to earn the shutout.

In their quest for a three-peat Peguis made a statement with a four-goal third period in their win over OCN Storm. Ethan Daniels (Juniors) and CJ Knutson (Storm) both scored two goals.

The weekend ended with the Norway House North Stars winning at home over Fisher River 6-3.
